Taskora - Rwanda's freelancing platform

Tue Jun 24 2025

Introduction

Many individuals in Rwanda possess valuable skills but lack the means to connect with potential clients. That is true whether they have an already established business or want to start one. Most business rely heavily on networking, which is inefficient and time consuming. In a developing economy such as Rwanda, where a growing percentage of the population is getting access to smartphones and internet, a need for a platform to take advantage of this technological shift and increase business growth and efficiency is made clear. Taskora aims to provide to Rwandans a platform for freelancing and odd-job finding adapted to their needs, along with additional useful features such as customer reviews and safety features. It will focus on local needs, allowing individuals to create accounts and list and offer services ranging from general tasks like plumbing, cleaning, heavy lifting, and repairs to specialized services such as installations or creative design.

Why Rwanda needs it's own platform

Rwanda's economy is growing really fast, driven by a young, ambitious and increasingly digitally connected population. Over 34% of households in Rwanda own a smartphone, with 94% of households in urban areas [1]. There is an opportunity to connect skilled individuals and established businesses with clients through this new connection.

  • Local: Unlike global freelancing platforms, Taskora is built with Rwanda in mind. It supports Kinyarwanda, integrates with MTN Mobile Money, and accommodates local pricing norms, making it accessible and affordable.

  • Use of the Growing Workforce: Rwanda's youth unemployment has been a challenging problem. The National institute of Statistics of Rwanda released a survey in 2025 that puts overall unemployment at 16.7% [2]. All those people, if given a proper platform, could demonstrate their abilities and increase their chance to find work.

  • Boosting Entrepreneurship: Finding trustworthy, qualified employees for temporary or specialized work is a common problem for small businesses. By providing small businesses with a pool of verified freelancers to select from and a price estimate for their services, Taskora would streamline this process.

  • Leveraging Digital Growth: Internet penetration in Rwanda reaching around 58% in 2025 [3]. Taskora would have a simpler UI, adapted for the mobile phones of the targetted rwandan population. Making sure that most would be able to take advantage of this opportunity without having to switch to more modern devices.

  • Building Trust and Safety: Taskora would have verified profiles, customer reviews, and secure payment systems to ensure safe and reliable transactions.
